Spartan athletics are in full swing at Bainbridge High School as eight teams kick off the fall season. While five veteran head coaches return, three first-year coaches have stepped into new roles as leaders of the golf and water polo programs. With just a week of practice under their belts, BHS’ head coaches share their insight on the upcoming season.
Coach: Tom Zuzelski, first year
2009 result: Fourth in 3A state tournament; Will Whealdon fourth overall
Seniors graduated: Kyle Schneider and Jack Seidl
Varsity returners: Carl Jonson, Bobby Griffin, Whealdon, and Davis Harrison
Contest to look forward to: “The 3A state championship.”
What needs to happen for the Spartans to be successful in their first contest against Seattle Prep Sept. 7: “I think if we can gel as a unit and simply share the same goals we will be ready to go. I really want these guys to feel like the team supports them and they will attack each match with like minds.”
