Golf | Jonson advances to PNGA Junior Amateur Round of 16

Islander Carl Jonson fell to Andrew Whalen of Ephrata, Wash. in the Round of 16 at the PNGA Junior Boys' Amateur Championship in Lakewood Thursday.

Carl Jonson defeated Steven Sveda of Maple Valley, Wash. by two strokes in a single-elimination Round of 32 match Wednesday.

Jonson, who will be a senior at BHS in September, tied for seventh, shooting two over par for a two-day total of 144 in the qualifying round.
