Golf | Jonson medals at U.S. Amateur Qualifier

BHS senior-to-be Carl Jonson won medalist honors at the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier at the Home Course Wednesday, advancing to the 110th Amateur Championship.

Jonson, who committed to UNLV, shot a course record eight-under-par 64 after the first two days of play. He finished with a one-over par 73 Wednesday.

Jonson is one of six players to advance to the Amateur Championship out of a field of 144 players. The Championship will be held Aug. 23-29 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash.
