The Spartan Baseball Club will be holding tryouts for its 13U, 14U and 16U teams this weekend and Aug. 14-15.
The teams will compete in the Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle Leagues, and will provide island players an opportunity to play with other local players.
“There are a lot of top-quality select programs over in Seattle,” President Jeff Main said. “We wanted to provide an alternative for these kids to stay on the island and play together with their peers form right across the bridge and to provide an opportunity for kids closer to home.”
Spartan Baseball Club, a 501c3 non-profit, will carry up to 18 players per team.
Players will have year-round physical training, as well as opportunity to build online resumes.
The total fee, which includes all training, gym time and uniforms, is $2,500 per year, Main said.
All tryouts will be held at Bainbridge High School, with make-ups and call-backs held on Aug. 28-29 by arrangement only.
