Ambitious policy proposals unveiled last week by President Trump drew widespread acclaim from both political parties as common-sense solutions that would benefit Americans in states both red and blue.
Wait, that didn’t happen.
Instead, Week 27 of the Trump presidency was highlighted by reported discussions within the White House of possible presidential pardons, his interview with the New York Times and his displeasure with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and the staff shakeup that included the departure of now-you-see-him, now-you-don’t White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
And then there was First Son-in-Law Jared Kushner’s appearance before a House Intelligence Committee that’s investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 Election. And the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. And the tweeting. And the Boy Scout Jamboree speech.
Newspaper cartoonists across the country enjoyed a broad buffet of potential topics as Trump marked his sixth month in the White House.
