It seems there are some people living in the area that take umbrage at nonprofit organizations trying to raise funds. Kiwanis has lost three expensive, custom-made ground banners advertising its “Shredfest” on April 24 to benefit the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund.

This event, like many others, i.e., the electronic recycling effort taking place the same day, are beneficial to the community.

That’s especially true for the “Shredfest,” which allows Kiwanis to give five $2,000 scholarships to Bainbridge High School seniors.

So, whatever mean-spirited people are stealing these banners, you should realize that: a) this is vandalism; b) it costs money to replace, better spent on scholarships; and c) it’s downright juvenile.

And if, heaven forbid, it is an adult, my advice to you is to “get a life!”
