A few weeks ago, I wrote a letter to the editor about the Manitou Beach trail that had been closed to bicycles. I requested that the city reopen the trail and suggested some modifications to make it work. Less than two months later, the trail has been reopened and it is wonderful. Who said the city can’t get anything done!

I would like to thank all the people who helped make this happen, especially the City Council, administrator, staff, Public Works, Police Department, and Squeaky Wheels.

This was truly a community effort and the trail couldn’t be more perfect. It is wide, safe, clean, well marked, and easy to access. Bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists will all appreciate the improvements. Thanks again for a job well done.
