We, the principals of the Bainbridge Island schools, declare our support and gratitude for the work of the Bainbridge Schools Foundation. We ask that you show your support during the upcoming BSF Phonathon Nov. 17-19.
We depend on BSF for financial support in a number of essential areas, including class-size reduction, staff development and supporting teacher innovation. This year the support of BSF has had even more impact by filling the void left by state and federal budget reductions.
At the end of last school year, through the work of the foundation in organizing the Save Our Teachers campaign, we were able to raise the money to rehire teachers offsetting the need to increase class size. Every school in our district is stronger and more effective in educating our students due to the work of BSF.
We feel fortunate to be part of a community that values and supports the need for quality educational opportunities for all students. We celebrate the variety of ways that the community supports schools but we are also in a budget climate where your continued support is a necessity.
