Hytopoulos' give-and-take style leads to solutions | Letters | Oct. 30

The first time I spoke with Kirsten Hytopoulos I had called her to discuss an issue on which we sat on opposite sides of the fence. If there was ever a time for Kirsten to be confrontational that was it.
Instead, she listened to me and acknowledged the reasons I had for my position. Then she communicated to me the reasons that she disagreed, and that was it. We agreed to disagree.
I know that I will disagree with her again, but that doesn’t concern me because what I appreciate most about Kirsten is her understanding that there must always be some give-and-take.
I think her approach to solving problems will be a welcome addition to the council. She identifies the issue, refers to the rules and applies them to the circumstances at hand in order to reach a conclusion. I believe this approach is one that will serve our entire community well.
Kirsten has already demonstrated her commitment to the well being of our entire community. Anyone who has watched her over the last couple years with an objective heart knows that she is the kind of person who has the entire community’s best interest at heart.
