Accessible, eager to serve community | Letters | Aug. 14

This is an enthusiastic vote for the reelection of Debbie Vancil as a North Ward council member.

The island, especially north Bainbridge, has been served exceptionally well by the forethought, energy and unflagging effort by Debbie. She has promoted the island’s ideals while providing a balanced, realistic and cost-conscious approach to the serious problems facing the community.

I have been involved for the past two years with the Point Monroe/Lafayette cooperative effort with the state to provide modern waste-water treatment to both Fay Bainbridge State Park and these local neighborhoods.

Although delayed by the current economic climate, the project has passed the many city regulatory reviews and assessments and achieved council approval.

This has been accomplished through the effort of the community and the direct and staunch support by Debbie from the Saturday morning informational gatherings to the formal technical reviews and final assessments by the council. I know first-hand of her competence and genuine interest in the well being of the people within this community.

These local interests have provided the opportunity to watch the council in a variety of actions. I have been consistently impressed by the insight, care and leadership expressed by Debbie.

She is accessible and eager to assist, but realistic and honest in opinion and action. These attributes and her vast and varied experience with city, county and state interests demand that she be retained as the North Ward representative to the Bainbridge City Council.
