Catch goat cheese, pick up some gifts | Letters | April 10
April 9, 2009 · Updated 5:11 PM
Bainbridge Island Farmers’ Market opens the 2009 season tomorrow at 9 a.m. with the assistance of Mayor Darlene Kordonowy, who will again fling the traditional Ceremonial Goat Cheese to the waiting crowd.
The lucky person who catches the cheese will be awarded a market basket with a clutch of coupons redeemable for gifts donated by market vendors.
Free drawings will be held for additional market goodies. Old-time fiddle music will entertain, and who could say “neigh” to a horse-and-wagon ride?
This year’s market will welcome several new local farmers, artists and artisans, and concessionaires.
Susan VanderWey,
market manager
