Rowing club adept at car washing, too | Letters | March 20

Bainbridge Island Rowing is blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community. Last Saturday, the Juniors hosted a car wash at the Chevron station (very gracious hosts). We would like to thank the many rowers, parents, and community members who braved the inclement weather to make the car wash a huge success.
Funds raised will help defray the significant cost of travel to the Juniors Regional Regatta in Vancouver, Wash., in May for all 62 participants in the 2009 program.
We also thank: the kids who were out working in the cold; parents who baked dozens of chocolate chip cookies; the man who bought eight hot chocolates for the first shift of kids, the many people who made donations, including the older woman who asked if we would take $6 for a car wash because that’s all she had. We felt supported and held up by the community. What a day!
