Letters to the Editor

Volunteers help create a great gateway | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

The Bainbridge Island Garden Club would like to thank everyone who contributed to the successful completion of Waypoint Park. In addition to the many financial contributors, there were many volunteers – too many to mention — who worked hard to make the park a reality.

We would especially like to acknowledge Bart Berg, who served as site manager for several months and was at the site daily. His tireless dedication as he set aside his own work to oversee countless construction details was inspiring.

A special thanks should also go to the Bainbridge Public Library Friday Tidies, notably Anne Seeley and Christy Smith, for their plant donations and planting assistance.

And of course, thank you, Ann Lovejoy, for creating the planting design, selecting the plants, and coordinating the entire project. And then there was the hard-working crew from the Bloedel Reserve who planted about 3,500 plants.

Whether you worked for just an hour or months, thank you everyone for your part in beautifying the gateway to our wonderful island.
