Winslow water brigade deserves our thanks | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:
This past summer when most 16- and 17-year-olds were just thinking about going to bed, there was a dedicated group of a half-dozen Island teenagers who were just hitting the streets. Dylan Lehotsky and his loyal Downtown Watering Crew spent many midnight hours driving the quiet streets of downtown Winslow making sure that nearly 50 hanging flower baskets were watered before another day dawned.
The Bainbridge Island Downtown Association wishes to thank Dylan, Kitt Patterson, Katie Merritt, Katey Hamlin, Paris Amore, Chase Lehotsky, Trey Lehotsky, and Will Houser, among others, for the countless hours spent hanging, maintaining, and watering the new flower baskets that are so much a part of the tradition, charm, and character of summers in our downtown. Our additional appreciation to Vicki Browning and the Bainbridge Island Rotary, Bainbridge Community Foundation, and many friends, family and community members who pitched in both financially and physically to get the flower basket program reestablished.
The late summer and blooming baskets were a sure sign this past summer that things are getting back to normal in downtown Winslow.
See you all next summer!
