Thanks for making each and every vote count | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

Those of us on the coordinating team of “Bainbridge for Obama” would like to extend a huge thank you to the people of Bainbridge Island for showing us the true definition of “people power.”

In a widely circulated video, the president made an emotional appearance with his expression of gratitude to the leaders and volunteers in the Chicago office and to all of us across the country who have been part of the Organizing for America grassroots team. The massive effort to get out the vote determined the outcome of the election.

Here on Bainbridge, we thank the nearly 250 people who participated over the last six to eight months. Volunteers registered new voters, knocked on doors, entered information into the data network, utilized social networking, and manned the phones for the GOTV in the primary and general elections. More than 11,000 calls were made in the last 16 days alone.

Thank you, Bainbridge Island, for making every vote count.
