We support a ‘yes’ vote for marriage equality | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

October 29, 2012 · Updated 8:20 AM

To the editor:

We invite our friends and neighbors to join us in voting “yes” on R-74, in support of marriage equality in our state. This is for us, as Lutheran pastors, a matter of fairness, faith, and a celebration of the importance of marriage.

In this spirit we affirm the efforts of our state legislators (locally Hansen, Appleton, Rolfes) in extending the same rights, privileges and public accountability to those who find their love in someone of the same sex.

R-74 and its endorsement of marriage equality provides stability, the benefit of ritual and community support, and a means of promoting monogamy and family structure for all those in committed, just relationships.
