On Nov. 9 and Nov. 16, the City Council is considering what use can be made of the $2 million cash settlement from the Washington State Ferry system.

Bainbridge island Concerned Citizens (BICC) obtained the easement that resulted in this settlement in the 1970s.

Our goal then and our goal now is to promote and enhance opportunities for access to the water for all islanders – whether they arrive by foot or by bike, whether they come to boat or just to sit by the water.

No one is making any more waterfront, and there are signs that we will be losing some.

Please urge council to conserve these funds for use in maintaining access to the water for all islanders. Urge them to save the funds for marine-related projects.

Elise Wright, BICC vice president
