I work very hard not to involve myself in politics. But it doesn’t take a genius to see that our city government is struggling, and basic community needs are not being met. I’m not casting blame, I’ve quite liked the council members I’ve met. Whether our council’s cast stays predominantly the same or completely changes face, their modus operandi is going to have to be revamped. On that note, I want to share what I know of a person that has thrown her hat in to this race - Kim Hendrickson.

I figure we all need as much information as possible to make our decisions and cast our votes. I’ve worked with Kim on a dynamic and elegantly un-agendized soup kitchen project and watched her create several other successful community-driven events. Her Island Wine Festival was an enormous hit, helping to put our island’s wine presence on the map. The woman has a great talent for delivery. Kim is the most sincere advocate for the community I have met since moving to our beautiful island. I think she deserves your consideration, even if it’s just to feel inspired and motivated.
