Downtown sidewalks have grown too large | Letters | July 22

I think Bainbridge Island will be eligible to enter the Over-Kill Awards program this year.

I’m sure with the amount of concrete used to create the Big City Look, with its new sidewalk widths, it will take home another prize.

They should also get some sort of prize, at the same time, for their clever way of getting more folks to walk to Winslow instead of driving.

This is being accomplished by eliminating the number of parking spaces. I hope they plan to have parallel parking, which will also help their cause.

The city must have won the annual Over-Kill Award some years ago with its excessive use of double yellow lines all over this island.

Ever since that time they have been singing “The Stirs and Stripes Forever.”
