Friends of the Farms welcomed the community recently at its annual meeting at Suyematsu/Bentryn Farm. People came to acknowledge Gerard and JoAnn Bentryn as the recipient of the Akio Suyematsu award. The event could not have been more successful.

Many thanks to the farmers, volunteers and business owners who generously gave in-kind support, making the event a true island-grown celebration.

Here’s to Bainbridge Rentals who donated tents, chairs and tables; Bainbridge Winery and Perennial Wines; and to My Kids’ Cookies for its custom-made Friends of the Farms cookies.

On behalf of the board of directors, thanks also to Blackbird Bakery, Wildernest, Hitchcock, the ever-so-present Bay Hay and Feed, Local Harvest, Churchmouse Yarns & Teas, Bainbridge Island Cinema, Bainbridge Gardens, Island Gallery, Sweet Deal, Danger, Magnolias, The Traveler, Paraffin, Flowering Around, Paulsen Farms and the best bookstore in Washington, Eagle Harbor Book Company.

We are truly grateful for thei island community’s generosity.

Wendy Tyner, executive director
