As a former island resident, educator and coach, I had the fortune to know Gerry Foster. I was saddened to read of his passing (Page 18, Feb. 4, 2011).

Gerry and Renee raised a wonderful family, a great testament to anyone’s life.

In the early years of Bainbridge Island lacrosse, a sport with few believers at that time, Gerry was a tireless supporter. His sons were some of the finest young men to play for Bainbridge. They were smart, tough and reliable, traits I am sure Gerry instilled.

I am grateful for his support, and the opportunity to have coached his sons.
