Bainbridge, county are on different boats | Letters | Nov. 19

The interesting bar graph showing election results (Nov. 5) comparing Bainbridge Island voters with Kitsap County results was in a sense no surprise, but enigmatic in another way.
Considering Bainbridge residents have on average more college degrees (implying smarts,) and resulting higher incomes,
Why do they vote on the liberal side? Compare the vote results with Kitsap County and the contrast is striking. It is like the contrast between the liberal West-East coasts and the Heartland.
The usual mantra is that rich or richer people are Republicans and the rest of us, including so-called minorities, vote mostly Democratic. The Bainbridge voters will say we vote liberal (Democratic) because we are smarter.
It is apparent that Bainbridge and the rest of Kitsap are on different boats.
