Keeping Rolfes in Olympia is good for Kitsap | Letters | Oct. 15

I met Christine Rolfes while serving on a volunteer board, before she was elected our state representative. I found her to be competent, prepared, fiscally careful and truly good at working with people of different opinions.
Our state has hard issues to deal with and angry sound bites won’t fix the economy, balance the state budget or bring jobs back to Kitsap County. We need thoughtful and effective leaders who are willing to work with all sides to solve complex problems.
Christine has worked hard for Kitsap, and has championed ferry reform and worked for reasonable fares. She has been a level-headed and effective voice of reason for Kitsap communities on the transportation committee and worked to restrain tolls on the Tacoma Narrows bridge. She has successfully gotten legislation passed that helps military families, protects crime victims and protects Puget Sound water quality.
Most importantly, Christine Rolfes has the kind of straight forward integrity that we all want in government. Kitsap needs smart, level headed Representatives who are willing to collaborate with all sides during what promises to be a tough two years, Kitsap needs Rolfes in Olympia.
