Susan Jean (Evans) Trygg

Nov. 24, 1953 – Sep. 27, 2018

Susan Jean (Evans) Trygg passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday September 27th at the age of 64. Her family and the warm breeze of a beautiful fall day surrounded her as her long and resilient fight against non-hodgkins lymphoma came to an end.

Sue was born in Seattle to Tom and Barbara Evans, and enjoyed what she recounted as an idyllic Pacific Northwest childhood – from playing on the shore of Lake Washington to hiking, camping and skiing in the Cascades and beyond. After graduating from the UW Textile Design program she moved to the Bay Area where she met and married her husband Olof.

Sue was happiest while biking at the beach on the Oregon Coast, cross-country skiing on a bluebird day, finding a hidden gem at the thrift store, hosting a cozy crafternoon and walking around Battle Point Park with friends and family. Though she would have denied that she was a very talented gardener, all who enjoyed her fresh raspberries and green beans would say differently.

Her creative and deeply caring spirit will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Sue was predeceased by her father Tom Evans and sister Karen (Evans) Detwiler, and is survived by her mother, Barbara Welsh, husband Olof, daughters Katja, Jenny, and Melanie, and her beloved new grandchildren Owen and Sophie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tilth Alliance in Sue’s memory.
