Jill Therese Van Heusen

April 27, 1937 - Feb. 26, 2017

On Feb. 26th, 2017 we lost our beloved Jill. She recently survived breast cancer and was making a new home in Henderson, Nevada when she suddenly passed from a heart attack. Prior to Henderson, she had split her time between Palm Desert, CA and Whidbey Island, Washington.

Jill was an active member of Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church on Bainbridge Island, later St Augustine Episcopal Church on Whidbey Island and more recently St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Palm Desert.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed card games and most of all playing with her grandchildren. Her passion was to travel, and her career with Holland America Cruise Lines as a tour guide allowed the opportunity to visit Alaska, New England, The Canadian Rockies, Banff, Lake Louise and the Eastern States. Alaska was her favorite and she returned many times. Most recently she traveled on a Safari to Kenya and Tanzania with her daughter Kathleen.

Jill was a walking example of unconditional love and grace. She had a beautiful smile that never went unnoticed. Her gentle, loving nature put people at ease, while her incredible sense of humor brought deep belly laughter to others. Jill was highly social and her volunteerism allowed her to meet and touch many lives. She will be eternally missed by those that had the good fortune to know her and be in her presence.

Jill is survived by her life-partner, Kent Myers, beloved daughter, Kathleen Naughton, brothers, Jack & Joel Thompson, sisters’ in-law, Maryan & Lloyd, and her precious grandchildren, Jackson & Cooper Naughton.

She was also considered family and cherished by her life-long girlfriends and the rest of the Myers family.

Jill- we will always carry you within our hearts.
