Jeanne Elizabeth Gosney

Jeanne Elizabeth Gosney of Poulsbo, Washington died of a stroke on December 8, 2016. Jeanne was born in Pacific Beach, Washington on October 1, 1930. The third child of Harold and Mildred Stilson, Jeanne (known as Betty to her family) grew up in the Grays Harbor area. She graduated from Hoquiam High School; she was salutatorian of her senior class in 1948.

Jeanne went to Central Washington Teacher’s College for two years where she met Bob Gosney and marrying him on August 27, 1950. They lived in Berkeley and then Redding, California where they raised five children, before returning to Poulsbo, Washington in the 1980’s.

Jeanne was an avid reader, bridge player and music lover. She sang for years in church and community choirs, played the piano and the guitar. She had an amazing sense of spacial relations and thrift and could make almost anything out of cardboard or scraps. She was also very active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Poulsbo for many years. Jeanne was devoted to her family and friends and was widely loved for her sharp wit and kindness.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bob, her sister Rosemary (Gerry) and her brother Hal (Barbara). She is also survived by her children: Gail (Fritz), Patricia, Kevin (JaYoung), Timothy (Sarah), and Christopher (Robin). Jeanne has five grandchildren – Bobby, Wil, Hana, Mali and Nicole (Dustin) – one great grandchild – Malia – and seven step-grandchildren – Shawna, Charles, Ben, Merritt, Liz, Sam and Jim. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Harold and Mildred Stilson.

Services will be held at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, 18943 Caldart Ave NE, Poulsbo, Washington on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be served in the parish hall following the service. Memorial gifts can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, Poulsbo.
