Jacquelyn M. Sandberg

August 31, 1928 – March 11, 2017

Jackie Sandberg was born in Centralia, Washington on August 31, 1928 and passed away peacefully on March 11, 2017 after a brief illness. A longtime resident of Poulsbo, she cultivated lifelong friendships and enjoyed life to the fullest with her friends and family. Almost as much as her family and friends, she loved parties, oysters and Jelly Belly jelly beans.

Jackie married Harry L. Sandberg in 1949 and they started their life together in Bellingham, Washington. The couple moved to Poulsbo in 1952 where they built their home and raised their family. She actively promoted the March of Dimes and the North Kitsap Arts and Crafts Fair. She had a 17 year career in Poulsbo’s district court serving as Court Commissioner, and was the recipient of the Liberty Bell award, which recognizes non-lawyers who have made contributions to the legal system.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Harry Sandberg, parents Plenoth and Stella Sherwood, sister Phyllis LeBaron and brother Clyde Sherwood. Left to cherish memories of her laughter and love are children Kristi Sutton (Jim) of Bainbridge Island, WA, Joan Bohannon (Dan) of Midland, TX, Brian Sandberg of Bremerton, WA, grandchildren Eric Sutton (Lacey), Paula Sutton, James Bohannon and Korey Sandberg, and great grandchildren Ethan Sandberg, Bruce Sutton and Blaire Bohannon.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff of Brookdale for their smiles and kindness which knew no bounds, the staff at Martha & Mary, and the staff of Franciscan Hospice. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Bainbridge Island. Memorials may be made to North Kitsap Poulsbo Rotary Foundation – Scholarship Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
