Christian Douglas (Chris) Ericksen

Christian Douglas (Chris) Ericksen died July 3, 2018 in Wenatchee.

Born on Oct. 6, 1943, he attended McDonald grade school, Commodore Junior High, and Bainbridge High School where he graduated in the Class on 1961.

Raised by his parents, Thor and Doris Ericksen in Eagledale, Chris was the grandson of Island pioneers Christian and Valborg Ericksen, for whom Ericksen Avenue is now named. Behind their home in Eagledale was a pond where many Island young people enjoyed ice skating on cold winter nights. Chris’ mother Doris made hot chocolate for the entire neighborhood many times.

At Bainbridge High, Chris participated in football, basketball, baseball, tennis, Boys Club, language council, National Honor Society, school plays, pep club, ski club and the Lil’s. He was an excellent student who also loved to hike and climb in the Olympic Mountains.

Chris married Kathy Haley in 1967. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Chris graduated from the University of Washington and UCLA and for many years worked for General Telephone in Everett. He was often called on to consult on telephone business elsewhere, including Australia.

Chris and Kathy have two children; Dr. Brian Ericksen of Washington, D.C. and Karen Lozensky of Issaquah.

Chris and Kathy have been retired in Leavenworth for many years and recently moved to Wenatchee following a diagnosis of colon cancer.

Family survivors include his mother Doris Ericksen of Burlington; brother Kenny of Borrego Springs, California; and sister Faye of Maitland, Florida.
