Betty J. McDermott

Betty Jean McDermott, 91, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016 at Madrona House on Bainbridge Island, Washington.

She was born on Oct. 16, 1925 in Elyria, Ohio. Betty worked as a homemaker and a sales associate with JCPenney. She was a wonderful wife, Mother and grandmother and a skilled seamstress and cook. Her family will forever cherish memories of the wonderful meals and family occasions that she celebrated with them and beautiful clothing she created for both her daughters and grandchildren over the years.

She and her husband moved to the Northwest to be near family in their retirement. In her later years she took wonderful care of her husband, Bob. She was a loyal and supportive friend over the years to many. Although her last couple of years were spent living with dementia, she never lost her warm smile or her kind and gentle spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Betty is survived by her children, Diane Toth (Will) of Bainbridge Island, Mary Wyman (Bill) of Poulsbo, and Patricia Lieb (Dale) of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Jessica Toth of Ashland OR and Kevin Toth of Seattle. Also great grandchildren Emmett and Alice Sible of Ashland. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McDermott.

Private family services and interment will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. The family requests any memorials be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America.
