UPDATE | Police apprehend lurker from high school lockdown

Bainbridge police apprehended a man who was sought following a lockdown Wednesday at Bainbridge High.

The man had reportedly entered Bainbridge High shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday and followed a female student into a restroom.

When the man started looking under the stall doors in the restroom, the student quickly left and alerted school staff.

The man, who did not appear to be a student, left the school and was reportedly driving a blue Honda.

Police shut down streets near the high school after a vehicle driven by the man, a dark blue 2013 Honda Fit, was seen not far from the high school less than an hour after the lockdown was lifted.

Police responded to multiple reports of the vehicle from people who had said they seen the vehicle north of downtown Winslow.

Officers stopped the man’s vehicle and took him into custody just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

An aid unit was called to the scene.
