UPDATE | Lockdown lifted at several Bainbridge schools, gunman report may be hoax

A number of Bainbridge Island schools ended emergency lockdowns just before 3:30 p.m. after officials determined students were not at risk.

Police are still investigating a report of a gunman near a gym that was received just before 3 p.m. Thursday.

Officers are now focusing their attention on a report that a crank call was made by two girls who were aboard a school bus.

The bus that had the two girls onboard is now returning to school so officers can talk to the students who may have made the 911 call.

The lockdown at Bainbridge High was ended just after 3:20 p.m.

Hyla Middle School was still in lockdown at 3:30 p.m. but is expected to release students soon.

Officers are standing by at island schools to monitor as students leave school grounds.

Lockdowns are also over at Woodward, Ordway or Sakai schools.
