Special program: ‘What Kids Really Need to Succeed’

Clay Roberts, an internationally renowned educator, will give the talk “What Kids Really Need to Succeed” on Tuesday at Bainbridge High School.

Roberts, a Bainbridge Island resident, will share with parents what really impacts career and life successes.

The lecture is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 in the commons at Bainbridge High. The program is sponsored by the Bainbridge Schools Foundation, Raising Resilience and the Bainbridge Island School District as part of their focus on creating positive and healthy school environments by bringing social and emotional learning (SEL) to the community.

Clay is a renowned keynote speaker, prevention expert and school consultant who is passionate about helping kids develop the internal and external assets they need for career and life success.

This fall, he worked with staff in the Bainbridge Island School District to understand how fostering key emotional assets in kids supports their emotional health.

Organizers of the program said he will bring those important lessons to the parent community and will share practical tips parents can put into immediate use to support island youth.

Clay will discuss why the school district is launching a district-wide emphasis on social and emotion health education.

Organizers say the evening is an opportunity for parents and families to:

• Discover what really impacts career and life success;

• Understand how fostering key assets in kids supports their emotional health;

• Learn practical tips you can put into immediate use to support your child; and

• Hear why the school district is launching a district-wide emphasis on social and emotional health education.

The event is open to the public. For more information and to register visit https://www.raisingresilience.org.
