Schedule changes for Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale

Organizers of the 2019 Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale have announced the big event will be pushed back a week.

The auction and sale were originally scheduled for June 29, and would have kicked off the Celebrate Bainbridge week.

Instead, the auction and sale will be held Saturday, July 6 at Woodward Middle School.

Organizers said the change was necessary because the school year will run longer than earlier planned, and the last day of school was pushed back by three days due to snow closures.

An open house for volunteers will now be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4 at Woodward Middle School.

Donations for the sale will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.Friday, June 28 through Tuesday, July 2.

Preview Night will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5. The sale and auction follows on Saturday, July 6. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year will mark the 58th edition of the annual event, and the sale’s 23rd year at Woodward Middle School.

The sale typically includes more than 200,000 items donated by members of the community.

Organizers said the 2018 auction and sale produced a record gross income of more than $625,000. Sale proceeds are used for community projects, community grants to nonprofits, college and career scholarships, and international humanitarian projects.
