New faces join faculty at The Island School

Three new faculty members have joined The Island School.

Christine Broga, first-grade teacher, has 14 years of teaching experience and a degree in U.S. History from University of Puget Sound. She has conducted a number of professional development workshops for teachers, including teaching at the University of Washington’s Summer Institute in Life Sciences. She was a nominee for the Disney Teacher of the Year Award for Creativity in Teaching.

Jessica Christianson, fourth-grade teacher, has 16 years of teaching experience. She is the founder and executive director of Girls Rock Math, a hands-on camp program for girls in several locations in the Seattle area. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English, a master’s in education and a master’s in education in teacher leadership in STEM education.

Art teacher Dana Weir has 15 years of teaching experience, including six years of teaching art at Swan School in Port Townsend, where she continues to teach part time. She has taught art to all ages, from preschoolers to adults. Weir is a studio artist and holds a bachelor of arts degree in art and a master’s in interdisciplinary studies.
