Meeting scheduled to update neighbors on Winslow construction

Olympic Property Group and Sound West Group will host an informational public meeting regarding the Bainbridge Landing Project at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.

The residential construction project (located at 259 Ferncliff Ave. NE) in downtown Winslow, called “BLIS” by OPG, is a four-story, 115-unit apartment building set to be raised just north of the Harbor Square condominiums, with two buildings to the north and west that would include nearly two dozen townhomes, on a 4.7-acre parcel between Cave and Ferncliff avenues.

Initial development plans for the property — on a site that includes the 1900-era home of immigrant William Cave — started to come together in 2015.

In the most recent letter to site neighbors, Olympic Property Group president Jon Rose said, “We know the construction process has been a burden on all of you, and while it is not over yet (townhome construction is just beginning), the heavier work is behind us.”

Rose said there will be “updates on various aspects of the construction process” shared at the April 3 meeting, including the townhomes along Gilmore Avenue, the approaching completion of the apartment building, and the new park containing the Cave family home at the Ferncliff end of the parcel.

Prior to a previous similar public meeting, in July 2017, a letter from Rose informed neighbors that the company had applied for building permits and the contractor was slated to “begin mobilizing equipment” later that month.

Construction was expected to last 18 to 24 months.
