Kitsap County Auditor to retire at end of current term

Kitsap County Auditor Dolores Gilmore said she will not seek re-election to a second term this year.

Gilmore, who was elected to her current post in November 2014, made the announcement Tuesday and said she would retire after 34 years in Kitsap County government.

“I have been honored to serve as the county auditor since January 2015. It has been very rewarding to provide essential services to so many people in Kitsap County and I will enjoy completing this last year of my term in office,” Gilmore said.

Before she became auditor four years ago, Gilmore worked in multiple positions within the Kitsap County Auditor’s Office, progressing to manager of the Recording Division and then Elections Manager.

Gilmore noted her husband preceded her in retirement from his county job several years ago and she looks forward to joining him and spending more time with their grandchildren. Traveling is also in the couple’s plans.

“I am looking forward to the next phase of my life and will miss working with so many people who are as dedicated to serving the public as I have been for the last 34 years,” Gilmore said.

Candidate filing for the 2018 Election cycle begins May 14.
