A Kingston woman was struck by a car while crossing Highway 305 at the Agate Pass Bridge just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The pedestrian was injured in the collision and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle by ambulance for treatment.

The incident occurred at 11:25 p.m. Feb. 3 on the west side of the bridge.

The State Patrol said the pedestrian, identified as Shaina Marie Stewart, 23, failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

According to a press memo on the incident, the woman was crossing from the north shoulder of the highway to the south, and was not in a crosswalk or intersection when she was hit in the southbound lane.

Drugs or alcohol may have been involved, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle, a Bainbridge Island man, 52, was not hurt.

He was driving a 2015 Honda Accord, which was damaged and towed from the scene.

The Bainbridge driver has not been charged, but the incident remains under investigation.
