Kempkes stands out at Colby College

Erin M. Kempkes of Bainbridge Island was named to the dean’s list at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2016-17 year.

Kempkes is one of 417 Colby students — or 23 percent of the student body — to qualify for the dean’s list this semester.

Kempkes, a member of the Class of 2020, attended Bainbridge High School and is the daughter of Rodney and Carolyn Kempkes of Bainbridge Island. The outstanding scholar earned a semester grade point average of 3.77 or higher this spring to be included on Colby’s highly selective dean’s list. She majored in psychology and biology with a neuroscience concentration.

Founded in 1813, Colby is one of America’s most selective colleges and the first previously all-male college in New England to admit women.
