Input needed from Bainbridge residents on city budget

The city of Bainbridge Island is looking for citizen input on its proposed budget for 2019-2020.

The budget is the financial plan for the upcoming two years and sets out the city’s identified priorities and planned service delivery to the community. City officials said the proposed budget supports key community goals, including a significant capital program and dedicated resources to implement priorities identified in the Comprehensive Plan.

Community members can engage in the budget adoption process by attending meetings or submitting written comments. Time will be reserved on October and November council agendas for discussion and review of the draft budget.

Upcoming sessions are:

• Oct. 9: city council business meeting;

• Oct. 16: city council study session (no public comment);

• Oct. 23: city council business meeting; and

• Nov. 6: city council study session (no public comment).

A final public hearing on the budget is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13 during the council’s business meeting.

Written comments can be sent by email to finance@bainbridgewa.gov.

The final adoption of the budget is expected in November, and officials said community input will be accepted up until the council approves the budget.
