Homeless man charged with residential burglary after alleged fight with man in tent

A 71-year-old homeless man was charged with residential burglary in Kitsap County District Court this week after he allegedly entered the tent of another homeless man in the woods near High School Road and Highway 305 and attacked him.

Raymond Gene Tejano was charged with one felony count of residential burglary Monday.

Police allege Tejano entered the tent of another man in the woods just west of Highway 305 shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, March 3 and attacked the man who was sleeping in the tent.

The victim said Tejano stuck his finger in his eye, and the victim then bit Tejano’s finger to get the alleged assailant off of him.

When police arrived, they found Tejano outside the victim’s tent.

Tejano allegedly told police the injury on a finger on his right hand had been caused by a dog bite. Police examined the finger and found what appeared to be teeth marks.

Tejano was arrested and booked into Kitsap County Jail. Bail was set at $5,000.

Conviction of residential burglary can result in a maximum prison term of 10 years and a $20,000 fine.
