Going the ‘first mile’ on the STO | Photo of the day 3.3

Bainbridge Councilman Joe Deets and Bainbridge Councilman Matthew Tirman walk along the newly completed first leg of the Sound to Olympics Trail on Saturday following the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. At right are Tirman’s sons, Sebastian and Oscar Aitchison Tirman.

A crowd of roughly 100 people came to downtown Winslow to celebrate the opening of the trail’s “first mile,” and many took the chance to explore the first completed STO segment: a shared-use pathway next to Highway 305 that runs from Winslow Way to High School Road.
