Four tiny tremors tickle Bainbridge Island Tuesday

Bainbridge Island was tickled this week by four tiny tremors, none of them of a sizable magnitude but at least one significant enough to merit online speculation regarding the string of seismic activity.

All four minor earthquakes were reported on Tuesday, Aug. 8, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

The first of the four, a 1.3 magnitude tremor, occurred at 9:41 a.m., at a depth of 10.1 mile, near Blakely Aveneu NE and Old Mill Road NE.

The second, coming at 12:33 p.m., at a depth of 13.7 miles, occurred in the area of Point White, near El Cimo Lane NE. It was a 1.9 magnitude tremor.

The third, a 1.4 magnitude tremor, occurred at 2:55 p.m., at a depth of 12.5 miles, near Palomino Drive NE.

The final and most powerful tremor of the day originated offshore, between Bainbridge Island and Illahee State Park, though closer to the island than not. It was a 2.1 magnitude tremor occurring at 3:21 p.m., at a depth of 13.6 miles.
