Forum planned for island voters

The League of Women Voters of Kitsap will host an election forum in October on Bainbridge Island.

The forum is one of seven forums planned by the league that will feature 2018 General Election candidates and a discussion on four state initiatives.

The Bainbridge forum is planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 in council chambers at Bainbridge Island City Hall.

Candidates include Heather Pauley and Nate Andrews, who are running to serve as a commissioner for Public Utility District No. 1; and Sherry V. Appleton (D) and Becky Erickson (I), who are seeking election to the Washington House of Representative’s 23rd Legislative District, Position 1 seat.

Other forums include:

• Monday, Oct. 8 at Poulsbo City Hall, where representatives from each side will discuss the Initiative I-1631 carbon tax issue and the Initiative I-1634 soda and grocery tax. The forum starts at 6:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division St., Port Orchard, with Kitsap County Coroner candidates Russ Reuther, Jeff Wallis and Jennifer Chamberlain. The forum starts at 6 p.m.

• Monday, Oct. 15 at the Kitsap County Administration Building, Port Orchard, where the topics are Initiative I-1639 (gun safety) and Initiative I-940 (De-Escalate Washington). The forum starts at 6 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Poulsbo City Hall with Kitsap County Auditor candidates Paul Andrews and Richard Huddy, and 23rd Legislative District, State Representative candidates Appleton and Erickson. The forum starts at 6:30 p.m.
