Former TV reporter joins city staff

Kristen Drew will be the city of Bainbridge Island’s new communications coordinator, City Manager Doug Schulze announced this week.

Drew most recently worked as a news reporter for KOMO-TV, an ABC-affiliated Seattle station that is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

“We are excited about the new perspective Kristen brings to the city organization and our communications program,” Schulze said in his announcement.

Drew follows Kelley Stickney, who was the city’s communications manager until she resigned earlier this year to take a position with the city of Sammamish.

Drew was offered the job on March 13 and she accepted the position two days later, according to an employment offer letter obtained from the city.

She will be paid a gross salary of $80,362 annually.

The announcement of her hiring was delayed until this week, according to Schulze, because he was on vacation and Drew also needed to work out her notice to KOMO, as we was exiting her contract with Sinclair a month early.
