The Bainbridge Island City Hall will soon get a fresh coat of paint.

The Bainbridge city council approved a contract award Monday to restore the paint and wood on the building.

Monroe-based Mattila Painting, Inc. is expected to take on the job at a base bid of $61,524.

The restoration project includes painting the entire exterior of city hall, as well as the town square metal structure near Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Damaged wood located on the east and south side of the council chambers, two beams along the south sidewalk overhang and an exterior door will also be restored and coated with wood finish.

Mattila Painting, Inc. was the lowest bidder of two bids submitted late last month.

The second applicant, Silverdale-based contractor Sabelhaus West, bid about $80,000.
