Coast Guard looking for answers after vessel washes ashore on Bainbridge Island

Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound watchstanders are looking for more information regarding a possible missing boater, whose vessel was located aground at Skiff Point on Bainbridge Island this morning.

A Bainbridge Island police officer contacted the Coast Guard sector after locating the 29-foot vessel at 8:57 a.m.

The Coast Guard has begun searching the area alongside local law enforcement agencies for a person in the water. A wallet was reportedly found on the vessel along with a cellphone and nautical charts. A dinghy was also located close to the vessel. The wallet was reported to belong to Scott Caldwell, an Olympia native.

Anyone with information about Caldwell or his vessel should contact Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound watchstanders at 206-217-6001.
