Board OKs change to school calendar

Students in Bainbridge Island public schools will now stay in class until June 21.

The Bainbridge Island School Board approved a change to the district calendar at its meeting earlier this month. The change was needed because island schools were closed for three days during February’s snowstorms.

The last day of school is now Friday, June 21. Officials note schools will run on a half-day schedule and lunch will not be served.

Adjustments to the high school finals scheduled are still being developed.

The date for high school graduation has not been changed; it remains Saturday, June 15.
