Bainbridge police are taking orders at Saturday’s charity event

The Red Robin restaurant in Silverdale will host the annual “Tip-A-Cop” charity event from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

During the special shift, police officers from around the county will be greeting customers and waiting tables.

Tips and donations collected that day support Special Olympics of Washington athletes.

From Bainbridge Island, both Deputy Chief Jeff Horn and Officer Carla Sias will be hard at work.

“I, along with Deputy Chief Horn are scheduled to help ‘serve’ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.” Sias said.

“So, it’s your one-and-only time to give us an order and support Special Olympics at the same time.”

Bainbridge Island Chief of Police Matthew Hamner encouraged island residents to enjoy a meal that day as a way of showing support for Special Olympics athletes, as well.

“Last year, we raised more than $5,000,” he said. “Hope to see you again.”
