A 54-year-old transient was charged with a felony count of residential burglary in Kitsap County District Court this week after police alleged he was found drunk and naked on a stranger’s couch in a Winslow Way apartment.

Peter Matthew Allen was charged with the felony Wednesday, June 24.

He was arrested early Wednesday after the residents of an apartment in the 400 block of Winslow Way East called police just before 12:30 a.m. about a burglary in progress and said an unknown man was in their home.

Police identified the man as Allen, and said he was “highly intoxicated” and found naked on a couch in the home.

Police also determined he had eaten some food from the refrigerator in the apartment, and had dumped some food in the sink and then turned on the water.

The water overflowed in the sink and ran onto the floor, causing  damage to the apartment.

The residents told police they didn’t know the intruder and did not give him permission to come into their home.

He was booked into Kitsap County Jail and bail was set at $25,000.
