Bainbridge Island Historical Museum adopts free admission policy

Come one, call all: for free.

The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum has announced that the facility has adopted a free admission policy for the general public, starting Jan. 2.

Museum officials said the admission policy has been changed because the museum recognizes how important an understanding of island history is and officials feel strongly that it should be accessible to all.

The museum is also aiming to expand its mission in the new year and continue to create transformative experiences for visitors, develop innovative programming and increase public access to its rich collection.

The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum will continue to rely on the generosity of visitors and donors to help cover not only the costs of operations but also the free admissions policy.

The change was made possible by the city of Bainbridge Island and its Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, which provided a onetime grant to jump start the effort.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (362 days a year) and is located at 215 Ericksen Ave.
